Stuttgart Fair, German Minister Özdemir: Albania, the place to visit

"I have tasted the Albanian cuisine and I would recommend Albania, a place to visit, where small farmers undoubtedly have an important role," were the words of the German Federal Minister for Agriculture and Food, Cem Özdemir at the Slow Food Fair in Stuttgart, where 45 typical Albanian products are presented.

At the invitation of German Minister Özdemir, Albanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca also participated in this important event. The German minister thanked her Albanian counterpart Frida Krifca for the presence at the Stuttgart Slow Food Fair, while Krifca she described her visit as an important support in the promotion of Albanian producers and the support of local products.

"You represent Albania and support local Albanian products as an important factor of the rural development," said Ozdemir.

In the meeting that was held at the Albanian stand, Minister Krifca drew attention to the visit of German Minister Ozdemir to Tirana in November of last year, which, according to Krifca was a historic visit, being the first time a German minister of Agriculture visited Albania.

"We see Germany as an important partner of Albania towards the ambitious path to integrate into the European Union. I am optimistic about the partnership we have with Minister Ozdemir and I appreciate his support for Albania, and for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania. We have a joint action plan with concrete steps that will be implemented with German assistance. We will have an attaché in the region, who will help us build this bridge", Minister Krifca declared.

More than 700 participators 700 were in the Stuttgart Fair. In more than 20,000 square meters space where they presented products of wheat, meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, aromatic and medicinal plants and of course sweets. 11 producers, members of the Slow Food Movement were presented at the Albanian stand.

"Agritourism enterprises in the country are developing the tradition of Albanian 'slow food. They do this by promoting clean and fair food and biodiversity. Reconnecting food producers with those who consume food is another important element of the slow food movement. It is a powerful notion that can change the perspective of how we should produce and consume food,” Minister Krifca said.
